Bike Riding from Manhattan to Brooklyn

The summer is a time for branching out and finding new places to picnic, relax, and admire the city skyline.

One great spot to go bike riding in Brooklyn and enjoy all of the above is in Williamsburg at the East River Park, a seven-acre waterfront space that offers sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. What was once a 19th-century shipping dock has been transformed into a green space that is perfect for relaxing in the sun. But wait - there's more! Right next to East River State Park is Bushwick Inlet Park, which includes a multipurpose field for soccer, football, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, and ultimate frisbee, a green building with a green roof, a viewing platform, playground and public access to the waterfront.

Lastly, right next to Bushwick Inlet, there's a brand new "popup" Park, 50 Kent.

Manhattan cyclists that are tired of all the traffic should venture over the Williamsburg Bridge. From here you can enjoy designated bike lanes and quieter streets for an easy trip to these parks. There are plenty of places to rent a bike in Manhattan and all over Brooklyn, including Citibike, for your bike ride to Williamsburg.

After a few hours of sunbathing and relaxing, you might be ready for a little refreshment. Wander over to Kent Ale House, one of the best restaurant nears Bushwick Inlet Park, located at 51 Kent Avenue (at North 11th Street) and enjoy our upscale pub menu, with one of 27 craft beers on tap, or one of our wines or classic cocktails. The outdoor sidewalk café has 50 seats, with great Manhattan views that offer the perfect way to enjoy a few drinks at sunset.

Kent Ale House is located 1.6 miles north of the Williamsburg Bridge, and has a large bike rack located just across the street. If instead you cross the Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge, we're an easy 4-mile ride from each of these gallant bridges.

Why not cycle over from Manhattan, enjoy a few beers—and maybe even sandwiches, salads, or build your own burger—and then hop the L train at Bedford back to Manhattan?
